Pilots often come under attack by commonly available high power green laser pointers and the glare associated with these attacks can cause dangerous distraction or, in some instances, temporary blindness. A report by the FAA shows the number of incidents in 2015 was 7,700 double that of 2014. The great majority of strikes come from green (532 nm) lasers.
Leveraging our industry-leading optical coating technologies, Iridian Spectral Technologies offers LaseReflect glasses, to reduce the impact of the glare from laser pointers. Our multi-layer optical filter solutions provide high transmittance while maximizing reflection of the laser light away from the pilot and minimizing the impact on the night time visibility of the cockpit instrumentation and aircraft and airport exterior lighting.
